If you’re reading this, it means Microsoft didn’t shadow drop any new releases during their not-E3 conference. It’s a moderately busy week regardless, partly thanks to TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge making a surprise appearance.
Published by Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4, Windjammers 2, Wonder Boy 3 Remake), this pixel art side-scrolling brawler comes from Tribute Games – a studio well versed with TMNT, having created titles for Ubisoft back when they had the license. Since its reveal, Shredder’s Revenge has been highly anticipated – expect lots of deep cuts of TMNT lore and modern flourishes.
The fact that Splinter, April, and Casey Jones are playable is neat too. If you missed the news last week, it’s due on Game Pass at launch and the PC version will have six-player support.

It’s enough to make us feel sorry for the team behind Final Vendetta – another pixel art scrolling brawler. That said, Bitmap Bureau (Xeno Crisis, Battle Axe) has gained a cult following over the years, meaning it likely notched up decent pre-orders long before Shredder’s Revenge’s release date surprise. It’s due both digitally and at retail, with a collector’s edition available.
After a false start, futuristic racer Redout 2 should finally be with us this week. That’s joined by the comical automated factory sim Autonauts, horror adventure OXIDE Room 104, and the low poly shooter Thunder Kid II: Null Mission. The Switch also gets the 16-bit style shooter Horgihugh and Friends.
The 8/10 rated (by us!) DEADCRAFT also gets its It Came From the Junkyard DLC.
A trio of tales from the public domain are upon us too, with turn-based rogue-lite The Hand of Merlin, TV show tie-in Zorro The Chronicles, and the theme-park based The Quest for Excalibur – Puy du Fou all due. How long until we start to see Winnie the Pooh horror games?
