Star Wars Battlefront’s grip starts to loosen

The first major retail releases of 2016 are still a week or so away. As such, this week’s UK top 40 remains mostly unchanged.

Even with a 24% dip in sales, Call of Duty: Black Ops III manages to hold onto the top spot for a sixth consecutive week – the top 40’s longest run since 2014’s FIFA 15.

Evergreen crime caper GTA V moves up to #2, FIFA 16 falls to #3 and then at #4 it’s Star Wars Battlefront. This is its lowest chart position since launch, hence the headline.

Then at #5 it’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, which likewise sees a 24% drop in sales over last week.

Positions #6-#10 see a similar amount of shuffling to the top five. At #6 it’s Just Cause 3 which is then followed by WWE 2K16, Fallout 4, LEGO Jurassic World and the age old top ten favourite Minecraft: Xbox Edition.

Significant fallers for this week meanwhile include Battlefield 4 – falling from #10 to #25 – and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate which makes both an unexpected and unexplainable descent from #9 to #24.
