Konami has landed their first number one of 2015 with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, beating the opening sales for MGS2: Sons of Liberty by almost 37% in the process.
It has also become the UK’s third fastest seller of the year after Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher III.
Sales were split 72% on PS4, 22% on Xbox One, 3% on PS3 and just 2% on Xbox 360. RIP last-generation.
Despite arriving to a sea of 6/10s, Mad Max managed to enter at #2. Again, the PS4 version came out on top.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – last week’s chart topper – falls to #3 with sales down 64%. Fellow recent arrivals Until Dawn and Disney Infinity 3.0 also saw a dip in sales, dropping 52% and 35% respectively to fill spaces #4 and #5.
Another two titles managed to break the top 40 – Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse at #35 and Rugby World Cup 2015 at #39.
Then over in the single formats Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls topped the PS Vita chart while LBX: Little Battlers Experience made its 3DS chart debut at #16.
