A blast from the past – Rare Replay claims UK chart top spot

The ravishing Rare Replay is the UK’s new no. 1. This is more noteworthy than it may initially seem.

The humble retro collection has become the first ever Xbox One-exclusive to take the top spot – although Titanfall did reach #1 at a launch it was also available on PC. It’s also Rare’s first numero uno since Banjo-Kazooie on N64 way back in 1998, and in turn, their first since joining Microsoft.

Somewhat less significantly, it’s the first budget title to go straight to the top of the chart since Wii Fit Plus in 2009. Good work, Rare!

There were no other new arrivals this week, and with zero retail releases due this Friday Rare Replay could very well remain on top next week.

While Rare Replay soars, the rest of the top ten sees a dip in sales. LEGO Jurassic World and Batman: Arkham Knight both dropped a place, falling to #2 and #3.

The Elder Scrolls Online meanwhile rises to #4 while GTA V moves down from #3 to #5.

The rest of the top ten then comprises of FIFA 15, Battlefield: Hardline, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, F1 2015 and Minecraft: Xbox Edition.

God of War III: Remastered was the week’s biggest faller – dropping from #10 to #28 – while LEGO Batman 3 was the biggest riser, up from #22 to #15.
