Sony loses an exclusive this week, with Square-Enix’s acclaimed Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade making the jump to Xbox Series and Switch 2 for a pretty reasonable £40. Owners of the PS5 original aren’t being left out, as launch day (22nd Jan) will add the new easier ‘Streamlined Progression’ option to all versions via an update.
SEGA’s also back with SEGA Football Club Champions for mobiles, Steam and PS5/PS4. It’s powered by the Football Manager engine and features over 1,500 players licensed from FIFPRO, K League, Manchester City and more. Over 2m players have pre-registered online.
That’s small potatoes when compared to the base-building real-time combat RPG Arknights: Endfield, which has 35m registrations across PS5, PC and mobile. The free-to-play 2D fighting game 2XKO comes to consoles too, courtesy of the creators of League of Legends and Valorant.

Then there’s Focus’ sci-fi Metroidvania MIO: Memories in Orbit – due on Xbox Game Pass at launch – the promising Paper Mario style fairytale adventure Escape from Ever After, and the mountain biking sim Mavrix by Matt Jones.
We can also expect the ‘90s style horror EBOLA VILLAGE, a belated Xbox release of The Monty Mole Collection, the hex-based brick breaker rogue-like Hextreme Void, and Look Mum No Computer – a top-down pixel art shooter with music making elements.
In addition to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Switch 2, the Switch also gains retail releases of the light-gun shoot’em up collection Operation Night Strikers Assault Edition, and the nostalgic Metroidvania The Good Old Days – which has a light sprinkling of Earthbound.
