Three new games enter UK chart, including Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series at #5

This week’s UK top 40 sees three new arrivals. We’re honestly grateful to have chart news to discuss, especially when summer is typically quiet.

Bandai-Namco’s Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series – a collection of two PlayStation platformer remasters – was the highest-charting new release, entering the all-formats retail chart at #5.

It also made #7 in both the Switch and PS4 charts, #5 in the PS5 chart, and #8 in the Xbox Series top ten. Not bad going, although it should be noted that sales were likely in the thousands, rather than tens of thousands.

ININ Games’ well-received Pocky & Rocky Reshrined entered the all-formats chart at a respectable enough #17, while also taking #16 in the Switch chart – outperforming the new Fire Emblem Warriors – and #20 in the PS4 chart.

Lastly, there was the Numskull-published AI: The Somnium Files – Nirvana Initiative. The interactive murder mystery took #28 in the all-formats and #10 in the PS4 chart. This too gained positive reviews from the press.

EA’s F1 22 was no.1 for the second week running, with Horizon Forbidden West and Nintendo Switch Sports holding onto #2 and #3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe climbed to #4. FIFA 22 held onto #6. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga moved down to #7, Pokémon Arceus Legends remained at #8, Animal Crossing: New Horizons rose to #9, and then at #10 it’s Minecraft.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football left the top ten for the first time, falling from #7 to #11.

It was another no-show for MX vs ATV Legends and Rabbids: Party of Legends, making the ‘legend’ part of their title either valid or vastly inaccurate. We aren’t sure how this ‘legend’ stuff works, exactly.
