It was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s destiny to topple FIFA 20 from the UK chart top spot. Today, we can consider that destiny fulfilled.
This week’s chart news comes from GI.biz, who reports physical sales of Modern Warfare were 39% higher than Black Ops 4, but far lower than WWII. However, it appears digital downloads have ushered it closer to meeting WWII’s combined physical and digital launch week sales.
GI.biz claims Modern Warfare’s sales were split 62% on PS4 and 38% on Xbox One. Â
FIFA 20 drops to #2. Then at #3 it’s the universally panned WWE 2K20. Unsurprisingly given the game’s poor reception, sales were down 31% over last year’s iteration.
It’s another new arrival at #4 – Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds, which is published under Take-Two’s Private Division label. As an Xbox One ‘Game Pass’ release it comes as no surprise to see that the PS4 version was the biggest selling, taking 78% of sales.
That’s followed by another new release at #5 – Sony’s platformer revival MediEvil. Backed by a £25 price tag, the family-friendly title has the potential to be a strong seller in the run-up to Christmas.
After a surprise resurgence last week, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe falls from #2 to #6. Fellow Switch release Ring Fit Adventure also fell four places to #7. Sales were up over last week though, which presumably means word of mouth is spreading.
This could also be the case for Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville which only saw a small dip in sales from launch. It remains in the top ten for another week, now at #9.
Minecraft on Switch sees us out at #10.
It isn’t entirely good news for Switch releases, with both Overwatch and The Witcher III spiralling down the chart. They’re now at #38 and #30, respectively.
