Sloppy sequel Dead Island Riptide has entered at the top of the UK chart, dethroning Injustice: Gods Among Us after just one week.
Don’t go rolling your eyes just yet – Chart Track informs sales are less than half of the first Dead Island. Once bitten twice shy? Perhaps. The mediocre Star Trek at #4 would suggest that people still don’t pay attention to review scores, so who knows? Not us.
It’s not all gloom in the top ten, thankfully. The bargain priced Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen – which we’re reviewing tomorrow – has entered at #3. LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins on 3DS chips in at #8 too. The jury is still out on that one, mind.
To make way for these four new releases a few games have understandably had to exit the top ten, with the most notable being Fire Emblem: Awakening dropping from #3 to #13.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 and Gears of War: Judgment have dropped significantly as well, falling from #9 to #25 and #15 to #30 respectively.
There’s just one other new entry in the top 40 – Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut at #38. We would have wagered this one to have done a little better, seeing that it wasn’t released on PlayStation 3 outside of Japan first time round. It’s in at #9 in the PlayStation 3 chart though, which sounds slightly more respectable.
