Blimey, it’s a barren week for new releases.
The lone arrival on the high street is The Croods: Prehistoric Party!, for all Nintendo formats: Wii U, Wii, 3DS and DS. Reviews? News10’s Game Guys called the Wii version “rather bad”, and Capsule Computers didn’t think much more of it on Wii U.
Still, the film’s been doing extremely brisk business, topping the UK box office for three weeks so far, so it could yet trouble the chart.
It’s not much busier in the world of downloads. The significant highlight looks to be Guacamelee! for PS3 and PS Vita, which hits the PlayStation Store. It’s a sort of Mexican ‘Metroidvania’, and has been on the receiving end of a string of glowing reviews. The word that keeps cropping up: fun.
There’s also Motocross Madness on Xbox Live Arcade, and Clash of Elementalists on DSiWare. Perhaps more tempting would be the big indie-celebrating Wii U and 3DS eShop sale, coinciding with this weekend’s iDÉAME developer conference in Madrid.
Next week: Injustice: Gods Among Us (Xbox 360, PS3), Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS).
