There’s nothing games websites like more than telling us things that aren’t going to happen, be it to debunk a rumour on a rival site, or apropos of nothing. They just love it! This, then, is the week in not news.
» Eurogamer’s had an exceptional week of not news. We had the new Wolfenstein not being released this year, which came out of a seemingly pointless update from id. New Nintendo DS colours for Japan – the horrendous sounding Metallic Rose and Gloss Silver – prompted an article letting us know that there are no new colours for Europe. And there was clarification that Killer 7 isn’t heading for Wii but, you know, it could do.
» IGN enjoyed feeling superior while debunking a rumour that an EverQuest expansion is going to PlayStation 3. They also picked a line out of Famitsu and turned it into news that there are no plans for an Xbox 360 version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
» Games Radar seemed very pleased to get an official quote from Ubisoft on whether Haze will be release for Xbox 360 or PC. The quote? “360 and PC versions are not confirmed for release this year.” They end with a statement out of the blue that 360 and PC versions are in the works. Why get an official line if you’re going to contradict it anyway?
» 1UP picked up on an interview with Blizzard on MSNBC in which they confirm that StarCraft 2 won’t be released this year. 1UP even prefixed their headline with “Not-So-Shocking News”. THEN DON’T BOTHER REPORTING IT.
