Animal Crossing Switch 2 Edition, Beyblade X EvoBattle, Earnest Evans Collection, and Trails Beyond the Horizon hit the Switch

More Switch 2 development kits must be in the hands of developers as a few surprise releases have hit the eShop this week. Next week sees a few more arrivals too, including They Are Billions and the Roman city builder Citadelum.

Those surprise Switch 2 releases for this week are Beyblade X EvoBattle – which launched on Steam a few months ago to ‘very positive’ user reviews – and the card-based Roguelite Overrogue, which also has labyrinth-style dungeons to explore.

As for scheduled programming, there’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – which sees a resolution bump, an increase in online player count, new mouse controls for doodling, and GameChat features – along with NiS America’s anticipated RPG The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon – available on both Switches. Will genre fans be able to finish it before next week’s Final Fantasy VII remake?

Then there’s the fun looking 3D platformer Big Hops – starring a frog with a stretchy tongue – the old skool MMO Wizard101 (which has allegedly taken 10 years to hit the Switch), and the deceptive pixel art RPG Cassette Boy. Idea Factory are also back with their latest otome Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights.

Retro fans should be rubbing their hands, as this week sees the release of Limited Run’s Earnest Evans Collection (which also includes action platformers El Viento and Annet Returns), plus an EGGCONSOLE release of the MSX2 racer Mad Rider, and two surprise PC Engine RPG re-releases: Tenshinouta: The Angel’s Verse and Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse II: The Fallen Angel.

Of course, there’s a new Arcade Archives re-release too – 1993’s Bomb Jack Twin, originally by Tecmo.
