Gotta build ‘em all – first three LEGO Pokémon sets revealed

Move over Mega Bloks. LEGO has the Pokémon license now and are seemingly keen to capitalise on the franchise’s colossal fanbase. The misconception that a typical Pokémon fan has deep pockets seems to be in play – the cheapest LEGO Pokémon set will clock in at £54.99 ($59.99). The Pokémon TCG certainly has a lot to answer for.

Three Pokémon sets are due out 27th February. To coincide, a digital scavenger hunt is now underway across LEGO and Pokémon digital channels with the grand prize being a trip to the PokémonXP and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco.

The LEGO Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball set (€199,99/$199,99/£179,99) consists of 2,050-pieces and sees Pikachu jumping out of a Poké Ball. Pikachu can be placed into different poses, including a battle pose and a seating pose. An ‘easter egg’ will feature – which we won’t spoil.

The LEGO Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise set (€649,99/$649,99/£579,99) is allegedly one of LEGO’s largest, made up of 6,838-pieces. It features the three Kanto first partner Pokémon evolutions with articulation. They can be displayed individually or placed together on a base. Pre-ordering it from PokémonCenter.com will bag you a LEGO Pokémon Kanto Region Badge Collection.

Lastly, the LEGO Pokémon Eevee set (€59,99/$59,99/£54,99) is compatible with the Build Together app – aimed at families – and features a poseable Eevee formed from 587-pieces.

While all three sets are unquestionably faithful to the franchise, the high price points will likely place them out of younger fan’s reach, which is a shame.
