Further proving Project Scarlett has Microsoft’s full attention, this week sees the final batch of Xbox One backwards compatible titles. The backwards compatibility team is about to focus on the next Xbox, ensuring all four generations will be playable on the new system.
While this may sound a little disheartening, the final update is a big one, featuring both OG Xbox and Xbox 360 titles. There’s a lot of fan-requested stuff on the agenda. Additionally, a handful of original Xbox games receive free DLC, such as a map packs for the original Splinter Cell and its two sequels, along with add-on missions and modes for Star Wars Battlefront.
Here’s the list of original Xbox titles:
· Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb
· Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
· Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
· Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
· Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent
· Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict
Armed and Dangerous is something of a cult classic, ignored at launch by many despite giving the world the self-explanatory ‘Shark Gun’. Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy’s arrival presumably means a standalone Xbox One release isn’t on the cards – the Nintendo Switch gained a budget-priced re-release earlier this year.
Then heading up the Xbox 360 side of things, we have the following:
· Asura’s Wrath
· Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
· Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
· Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie
· Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands
· Skate
· Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
· Syndicate
· Too Human
Asura’s Wrath, Skate, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West are often requested by Xbox owners. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is a neat addition too. Chances are some of these will become Games with Gold freebies over the coming months.
But wait, there’s more – Xbox One X Enhanced updates available now include:
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts
- Banjo-Tooie
- Kameo Elements of Power
- Perfect Dark
- Perfect Dark Zero
- Viva Piñata
- Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise
Finally, and to mark the end of backwards compatibility updates, Silicon Knights’ sci-fi RPG Too Human is available to download for free.
