Team Sonic Racing takes pole position

SEGA’s not-quite-full-price Team Sonic Racing has claimed the UK chart top spot, dislodging Rage 2 in the process. Given how quiet the online lobbies are, this comes as a mild surprise.

It’s the first Sonic title to go straight to no.1 in over ten years – the last was Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games back in 2008. GI.biz also reports that sales were double of what 2012’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed managed at launch.

Rage 2 has suffered quite a blow, dropping to #4 during its second week on sale. Days Gone held onto #2 while FIFA 19 remained at #3. Red Dead Redemption 2 refused to budge too, holding onto #5.

At #6 it’s Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, down two places. Mortal Kombat 11 is on the descent too, falling from #4 to #7.

The ever-green Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hangs around at #8, followed by GTA V at #9.

Then at #10 it’s the popular Xbox One S pack-in Forza Horizon 4.

After entering at a respectable #9 last week, sleeper hit A Plague Tale: Innocence has taken a tumble, falling to #31. We all fall down.

Team Sonic Racing wasn’t the only new arrival. Assassin’s Creed III Remastered took #15 thanks to the new Switch version, while the lampshade destroying Everybody’s Golf VR swung in at #22.
