Pang! Pang! Pang!

This Week’s Games

Sometimes the strangest games receive sequels. Ninety Nine Nights II is a good example – the original, which was released way back in 2006, wasn’t very good. Reviews suggest that this one isn’t much cop either – the average review score currently stands at 51%. Retailers like Amazon are already offering it for £24.99.

Two games that have been scoring better are Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions – which received a surprising 7/10 from Eurogamer – and Ubisoft’s RTS R.U.S.E which was awarded an 8 from EDGE. Eurogamer said that Spider-Man is a “generous and witty button-basher”. Now there’s a thing.

You can say what you like about the PSP, but you can’t deny it’s the platform of choice for RPG fans. Last week there was Valkyria Chronicles II; this week there’s Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. On the DS meanwhile there’s Pang: Magical Michael – a rather gaudy looking revamp of the classic arcade game. You can follow Magical Michael on Twitter if you like.

Next week: Halo: Reach (out on Tuesday), plus the PlayStation Move line-up (Sports Champions, Start the Party, Racket Sports, Kung Fu Rider and Eyepet: Move Edition), Ferrari: The Race Experience on Wii, Eldar Saga and My World My Way on DS and Phantasy Star Portable 2 on PSP. Yup, yet another RPG!
