This Week’s Games
Last week we had the majestic Super Mario Galaxy 2; this week we’re being “treated†to the multi-format platformer Shrek: Forever After. Sigh. The film looks bloomin’ awful and completely pointless, and I’m sure the game will be no better. It’s out on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS and PC. There’s no PlayStation 2 version, although it does seem that the Despicable Me movie tie-in is going to be released Sony’s aging console in a few months time. That’s by D3 though, and not Activision.
We digress, sorry – Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a pretty much essential purchase for software-staved PSP owners. Famitsu gave it 40/40 but since then most reviews have been around the 8/10 mark. Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force: Herbert’s Revenge on DS could also do very well – the first was more popular than crisps and chocolate combined.
As well as Shrek, there are another four Wii titles out this week – Big Beach Sports 2, Free Running – which was first released on PlayStation 2 years ago – fashion design sim Project Runway and U-Sing: Girl’s Night. Even given its age, I’d say that Free Running is the only one of these worth a look. Unless you’re a 10 year old girl. Or Gok Wan.
Next week: Singularity, Transformers: War For Cybertron, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Naughty Bear, Demon’s Souls, Sherlock Holmes: The Secret of Osbourne House, Galaxy Racer, Metal Slug XX and Sonny With A Chance.
