Roman city builder Citadelum marches onto Switch 2 later this month

Nintendo’s decision to add mouse functionality to the Switch 2 is already paying off, allowing the system to host PC-style games that wouldn’t have fared well on the original Switch.

Following in the footsteps of launch title Civilization VII comes Citadelum, a Roman city builder that involves expanding your reaches, establishing trade routes, leading armies into battle, and preparing gifts for the Gods of the Pantheon.

Citadelum has been available on PC since 2024 (Steam reviews are currently ‘very positive’) and will feature all content released so far, including five campaigns, five biomes (Italy, Hispania, Egypt, Germania, Britannia, Gallia and Carthage) and auto-battle options.

This Switch 2 version will have optimised controls, a new UI, 1080p resolution in portable mode, and 4K output for docked mode.

There isn’t long to wait if you’re curious – it’s set to launch 22nd January on the eShop.
