The Terminator is finally back on consoles this week. Terminator 2D: NO FATE comes from the creators of Xeno Crisis and Final Vendetta, intended to be the high quality tie-in we never received back in the ‘90s. Multiple endings and unique scenarios feature, along with tidy pixel art. Fans of physical media can choose between standard and a collector’s edition, with the latter including a paper weight(!) and a cloth poster.
A few other retro-style and retro re-releases are due. These include a localisation of the PS1’s money making life sim Milano’s Odd Job Collection, a new version of the 1984 platformer Montezuma’s Revenge, a HD remaster of the 2005 RPG Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song, and a re-release of the Mega Drive’s quirky pinball game Dino Land. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection also heads to retail on PS5 and both Switches. Sorry, Xbox owners.
Fans of SEGA’s Yakuza franchise are well catered for this week, with the former Switch 2 exclusive Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut coming to PS5 and Xbox Series, along with Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza Kiwami available in a bundle or separately. They also head to Switch 2 at retail.
It’s quite a busy week for the PlayStation, with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 about to descend, along with Devolver Digital’s surreal Skate Story (also on Switch 2), and the PSVR2’s Shadowgate VR: The Mines of Mythrok. Nintendo fans may recall Shadowgate, with previous entries available on such formats as the NES and N64.
Comical British adventure Thank Goodness You’re Here! makes the jump to Xbox, meanwhile.
Then there’s the brutal arcade-style Mutant Football League 2, visual novel spin-off BROK: Natal Tail, A New Christmas, puzzler Juufuutei Raden’s Guide for Pixel Museum, the jungle themed Dead Cells alike Dunjungle, the serial killer chasing investigative adventure She’s Leaving, and the festive slasher horror Christmas Mutilator.
This could actually be the last major week for new releases, as things appear to be quieting down as Christmas approaches.
