New on Switch: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Portal: Companion Collection, GameDec, The Legend of Bum-Bo, Cuphead DLC, more

A couple of meaty DLC add-ons are upon us this week. Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise receives its almost full-price Sunbreak expansion, while Cuphead finally gains the anticipated The Delicious Last Course – offering a new boss-filled island to explore and a new character to master.

Portal: Companion Collection also hits Switch this week, combining Portal and Portal 2 in one handy package for a reasonable £13.49. Portal 2 includes a co-op mode with local, split-screen, and online play. If you’ve never played either, you’re in for a treat. How’s about Team Fortress 2 next, Valve?

Hourglass may please Portal veterans, offering similar first-person puzzle solving with an Egyptian theme. By creating time clones, it’s possible to record yourself and repeat actions to solve puzzles and progress.

On the subject of belated PC conversions, there’s The Legend of Bum-Bo – the prequel to The Blinding of Isaac. Don’t expect many similarities – it’s a puzzle-based deckbuilding roguelike, with cardboard cut-out style visuals.

If you frequent YouTube you may have caught wind of GameDec – it seems to be getting a large social media push. This cyberpunk RPG, with crimes to solve in a virtual world, arrived on PC last year to mixed reviews. A lack of polish was the biggest criticism. Hopefully, this Switch version has received additional work.

Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei is one of the few new releases to get the review treatment. This visual novel is going down well with critics, described as a genre highlight. Then there’s Rabbids: Party of Legends – a full-price mini-game package from Ubisoft China, hence the Asian flair.

Other new releases include Parasite Pack – which brings together Flea and Tapeworm Disco Puzzle – the grisly 16-bit style run ‘n gunner Hillbilly Doomsday, twisted point ‘n clicker Almost My Floor, and the gooey party game Squish.

Failing that, there’s Accident – a game about performing CPR at car crashes and other incidents. The screenshots resemble the stuff of nightmares. *Shudders*
