Pac-Man World Re-Pac announced, launching in August [Updated]

One of the major criticisms aimed at the recent Pac-Man Museum+ was that the PSone’s action platformer Pac-Man World was missing. Now we know why – a fully-fledged remake is incoming.

Revealed during today’s Nintendo Direct, Pac-Man World Re-Pac features visuals that bring it up to modern-day standards, along with the return of shooting and racing mini-games. Set on Ghost Island, Pac-Man can rev-roll, butt-bounce, and become super-sized to deal with enemies.

Both the UI and core mechanics are being improved, and it’ll also include a collection of 3D mazes in Maze Mode, along with the original Pac-Man in Classic Mode.

The plot sees Pac-Man’s family captured, with the trailer revealing that once again Ms. Pac-Man is being replaced with Pac-Mom. This is due to an ongoing dispute between Bandai-Namco and AtGames.

We won’t have to wait long to reacquaint Pac-Man with his Pac-Fam – it’s out 26th August on Switch [Updated] plus PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC. The Switch page is now live, featuring additional screenshots.
