Last week’s new releases were mostly digital-only, making for an unexciting UK top 40. Mostly, but not all. Numskull’s Final Vendetta was one of the few games to get a simultaneous digital and physical release, managing to enter the top 40 at #36.
Had the excellent Shredder’s Revenge received a physical version, we may have seen a new no.1 – the arcade-style brawler appears to be selling incredibly well on the digital services.
Horizon Forbidden West claims no.1 once again. This is due to the popularity of Sony’s new PS5 bundle, which includes a physical copy. Expect it to hang around the top five for many weeks to come, if not months.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga held onto #2. After taking the top spot last week Mario Strikers: Battle League Football fell to #3, while Nintendo Switch Sports climbed to #4.
Then at #5 it’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, up from #8. 269 weeks in the chart altogether, fact fans.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus rose from #9 to #6. At #7 it’s Take 2’s The Quarry, down from #4 – a slow descent for this new release looks likely
Minecraft climbed two places to #8, Gran Turismo 7 re-entered the top ten at #9, and finally, at #10 it’s FIFA 22. Kirby and the Forgotten Land departs the top ten, meanwhile.
Elsewhere, Jurassic World: Evolution 2 is on the rise, rocketing from #35 to #16. Call of Duty: Vanguard made a turnaround too, going from #36 to #19.
Check back next Monday to see if Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes can dethrone Horizon Forbidden West.
