As the buzz surrounding Pokémon Sword/Shield begins to settle, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare returns to the UK chart top.
With no more major new releases due out this year, it stands to reason that Call of Duty and FIFA 20 will spend the rest of 2019 duking it out for no.1.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had a decent second week, holding onto #2.
FIFA 20 wasn’t as fortunate, falling from #4 to #5. Expect Black Friday deals to push back up the chart – it’s a popular PS4 pack-in currently.
The rest of the top 10 comprises solely of Switch releases, further providing that Switch owners love physical media.
Pokémon Sword dropped to #3. Pokémon Shield fell two places likewise, now at #5.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 remains at #6 for another week. The ever-popular Mario Kart 8 Deluxe moved up to #7, Minecraft re-entered the top ten at #8, while Mario & Sonic: Tokyo 2020 rose to #9.
Lastly at #10 it’s the Warner Bros. published Fortnite: Darkfire Bundle.
Death Stranding was the only release to depart the top ten, taking a tumble from #8 to #13.
As for new arrivals, SEGA’s Football Manager 2020 took #16, which was shortly followed by Shenmue III – published by Deep Silver – at #17.
It’s worth bearing in mind that Shenmue III was a Kickstarter success story – many fans no doubt obtained their copy as a pledge reward, which may have impacted physical sales.
