If you can drag yourself away from Pokemon Sword/Shield, you’ll find a wealth of other new releases on the eShop. It’s a slightly more subdued week than usual, mind.
Reviews of arcade revival Bubble Bobble 4 Friends – which launches in Europe first thanks to the franchise’s popularity here in the ‘80s – went live late last week. Scores were wildly mixed, varying from Vook’s 2/5 to Nintendo Life’s 8/10. Generally, though, it seems that it’s a worthwhile update that’s best played with friends. We’re hoping those who scored it highly kept the price tag in mind – it’s a whopping £35.99.
Scores for the family-centred pixel-art RPG Children of Morta are much more positive. In fact, it’s one of the highest-scoring Switch games of recent times. Nintendo World Report felt it deserving of a 9.0. “Children of Morta is one of the most wonderful surprises of 2019, and it needs to be on your radar,†they said.

Reviews of Netflix tie-in Narcos: Rise of the Cartels are starting to filter through now, meanwhile. Eurogamer found this tactical top-down shooter to be better than expected, while TSA enjoyed the PS4 version. “Narcos: Rise of the Cartels is a decently executed turn-based strategy title. Sure, sometimes it’s a bit too easy, but when the enemy moves efficiently it become a dangerous game of cat and mouse,†was their verdict.
Others to consider include co-op adventure Asterix & Obelix XXL3, roguelike 2D shooter Black Future ’88, retro re-release Arcade Archives IN THE HUNT, and SoccerDie: Cosmic Cup – an oddball fusion of football and bullet hell shooting.
The 3DS also gets two new titles. Turkey, Please! offers pixel-art adventuring with a thanksgiving twist, while Fatal Fracture appears to be a wave-based first-person shooter. Both will set you back very little.
Check back next week, when the Switch receives not one, not two, but five Five Nights at Freddy’s games. We’re sure somebody knows what they’re doing.
