With many publishers and developers saving their big-name releases until the end of the month this week’s new release assortment is slightly slimmer than usual. There are plenty of smaller titles to get stuck into though, so worry not.
Small but perfectly formed, in the case of Anthill. Image & Form are back with a remaster (of sorts) of their first-ever handheld release. The arrival of the Switch Lite persuaded them to port their garden gang RTS, being ideally suited to a handheld system. Thants.
There are a trio of RPGs to consider too, including Destiny Connect: Tick Tock Travelers. This one is aimed at younger role-playing fans, complete with simplified mechanics. Ultimately, this has resulted in some less than positive review scores.
“Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is a child-friendly, happy-go-lucky, time-travelling adventure that’s enjoyable… for about an hour or so. Simply put, there are far better JRPGs out there – many of them equally carefree and friendly towards young gamers and newbies, and even more so,†was Cubed3’s verdict.
Open-world 2D RPG Cat Quest II seems to be more worthwhile. “Diehard RPG fanatics might find it’s a little on the easy side, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s genuinely good fun to play,†said Nintendo Life.
Speaking of sequels, Mary Skelter 2 has crept out of the shadows. The Japanese dungeon crawler has gained decent reviews, including a 7/10 from Nintendo World Report.
Into the Dead 2 also turns up on the eShop a week ahead of Halloween. We were looking forward to this zombie shooter – it has both Ghostbusters and The Walking Dead DLC – but it appears to be falling flat with critics. It’s a glorified mobile conversion that suffers from repetition, making the asking price (£31.49) difficult to swallow.
“If you’re an absolutely massive fan of running through endless waves of zombies whilst very slowly unlocking weapons to make it seem as though you’re somehow changing that experience, fill your boots, but everyone else should maybe check this out for free on a mobile device first instead†warned Nintendo Life.
