Last week’s meagre offering of new Nintendo titles ended up being more than what other formats received. Unless mistaken, the PS4 and Xbox One didn’t see a single new release last week.
Perhaps we shouldn’t have been quite as quick to judge. We can safely say that this week is a little disappointing, though – just two new 3DS games are due.
Tactical RPG Mercenaries Saga 3 (£5.89) hit the US market last month but it appears nobody got around to reviewing it. Mercenaries Saga 2 didn’t review too badly, gaining a steady string of 7s, so we’re expecting this to be above average at the very least. It may even prove to be a decent budget alternative to Fire Emblem.
Mercenaries Saga 3 is joined by Shift DX (£4), a 2D monochrome puzzler in which rooms must be flipped to reach the exit. It’s by the same developer as early – and similar – 3DS release Shifting World, if you feel like you’ve seen this one before. It features all stages from Shift 1 and 2, plus 100 new puzzles to beat.
Wii U owners shouldn’t feel too left out as a wealth of discounts are prepped for Thursday, including Curve Digital’s back catalogue. Highlights include Severed (£8.39), Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (£5.99), Ittle Dew (£6.29), OlliOlli (£1.59), Pumped BMX + (£1.59), Thomas Was Alone (£1.74), Ultratron (£1.59), Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut (£1.65), Nova-111 (£1.59), Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (£1.59), The Swapper (£1.59) and Toki Tori 2 + (£3.24).
Upcoming 3DS price drops meanwhile include Japanese Rail Sim 3D Journey to Kyoto (£6.49), Toki Tori 3D (60p), Severed (£8.39), OlliOlli (£1.59), Titan Attacks! (£1.59) and good old Real Heroes: Firefighter 3D Download Version (£4.49).
