Splatoon enters UK chart with flying colours

Well fancy spat – Wii U-exclusive Splatoon has entered the UK chart at #2. In doing so it becomes the system’s biggest ever launch for a new IP, toppling previous record holder ZombiU.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sees a 69% drop in sales but remains the UK’s numbero uno for a second week running. GTA V and FIFA 15 hold fast at #3 and #4 while Farming Simulator 15 falls three places to #5.

At #6, up one position, it’s Battlefield: Hardline. That’s then followed by Project CARS, Destiny, Mortal Kombat X and Minecraft: Xbox Edition to form the top ten.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare meanwhile departs the top ten for the first time since launch, falling all the way from #9 to #15. A price cut to around the £20-£25 mark could see it return, however.

Right at the lower echelon of the chart a bunch of re-entries can be found. Positions #35 through to #40 are all re-entries, no less – Skate 3, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Mario Party 10, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, AC: Rogue and finally Zelda: The Wind Waker HD at #40.

It’s not all good news for Nintendo though – recent release Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush has left the top 40 this week, while Fossil Fighter: Frontier puts in a rather poor showing at #24 in the 3DS chart.
