Considering Halo: Spartan Assault on Xbox 360? Maybe hold off for now

We were aiming to bring you a review of the newly released Xbox 360 version of Halo: Spartan Assault today, but that plan fell through on the grounds that it rarely goes ten minutes without crashing.

That’s no exaggeration – we’ve just gone over the halfway mark and had to reboot our humble Xbox 360 no less than fifteen times. The majority of crashes occur after selecting a mission from the map screen, which then causes the console to freeze.

A couple of times we’ve also been thrown back to the Xbox’s dashboard after choosing to retry a mission.

Of course, this is something a simple patch could fix. Fingers crossed that one isn’t far off – from what we’ve managed to play, the £11.99 download isn’t quite as mindless as we initially expected.

  • The free trial wont even work for me… The game starts to load and just freezes about half a second into the cutscene. But, like you say, a patch (hopefully) should fix it

  • I believe they “took the game offline” to do an update. Tried it yesterday and it only crashed once in the space of an hour. A mild improvement.
