Three Sega brawlers now available at knock-down prices

Despite being only being four months old, Sega has slashed the prices of Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters on Xbox Live Arcade to 160 MSP each.

The discounted prices are only available to gold members until 11th March.

Sonic the Fighters isn’t a particularly good game due to being rather on the simplistic side, but it’s still worth a download for those looking for a Gamerscore boost. It took us just over 15 minutes to unlock all 12 achievements.

Virtua Fighter 2 fares a lot better. Time has been rather kind to it in fact and online play is a neat addition. Like Sonic The Fighters, the achievements are very easy to unlock. You don’t even have to finish the arcade mode to get them. The fifth stage is still a bit of a bugger to get past though.

Then there’s Fighting Vipers, which is something of an unloved gem. Characters are outlandish and there are few nice ideas like destroyable armour and the chance to shove the opposition through the walls of the enclosed arenas. It’s the hardest of the three to get achievements out of, but unlocking all of them shouldn’t take more than an hour, at least once the method of unequipping armour has been mastered.

NiGHTS Into Dreams is also 400 MSP until the 11th March if brightly-hued fighting games aren’t your thing. “If you’re anything like us, you’ll love every second of it,” we said in our review.
