Before Dead Space 3 launched last week EA seemed confident that it’s going to perform better than Dead Space 2, claiming that the demo has been downloaded over 2m times. Although it may do in the long run, it hasn’t broken Dead Space 2’s launch record with Chart Track claiming that sales are down 26.6%.
This hasn’t stopped it from becoming this week’s new UK number one though. It’s also the biggest launch of 2013 so far.
The rest of the top five are unchanged from last week – FIFA 13 at #2 followed by Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Far Cry 3 and Hitman Trilogy HD. Last week’s number one Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is now at #6.
Elsewhere in the chart Madden NFL 13 re-enters at #19 while Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is back at #36 presumably due to price drops. Capcom’s DmC is the biggest faller, dropping from #11 to #25. As we said before, a slash in price could very well see Dante shoot back up the chart.
There’s still no sign of Wreck It Ralph in the top 40 but the DS version is up from #31 to #9 in the DS chart and it enters at #20 in the Wii chart.
Meanwhile in the 3DS chart the belated conversion of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed takes the top spot. Even though it was delayed a few times word has it that it’s a bit on the smelly side.
