Mere days after being re-released on a swarm of systems, lead Sonic CD designer Christian Whitehead has revealed via Sonic Stadium that there were plans originally for two new levels.
Desert Dazzle would have been a sun-soaked romp with cacti and canyons in the background while Final Fever would have given fans a new boss to battle.
Both levels were canned before being finished due to Sonic Team wanting the game to stay true to original.
This isn’t the first time a level from a Sonic game has been scrapped prior to release – Sonic 2 was going to contain a level entitled Hidden Palace.
