Go West

This Week’s Games

Two very fine adventure games are upon us this week – Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. If you’re wondering what one to buy, then my advice is to buy both. Come on – I’m sure you’ve got plenty of old games to trade in. Seriously though, if you can only pick one then it’s probably best to play the demos on Xbox Live and PSN and choose for yourself.

If monkey men and vampires aren’t your thing, then there’s PES 2011 – which is apparently nowhere near as good as FIFA 11 – and World Rally Championship from new license holders Black Bean. There aren’t any reviews of the latter yet, but they’ve made plenty of racing games in the past so it’s not like they’re unfamiliar with the subject matter.

This leaves us with Wii Party, which appears to be more inventive than most mini-game collections, RPG remake Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light on DS and a very tardy conversion of Sid Meier’s: Pirates! on Wii. Bizarrely, it’s £14.99 on Play and £35.74 on Amazon.

Next week: Medal Of Honor, Just Dance 2, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole – The Videogame, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes and Scooby Doo & The Spooky Swamp.
