Buy one get ten free

When the PSPgo launched Sony gave away free copies of Gran Turismo. A few months later, Sony then upped the ante and gave away three games. According to MCV, Sony will soon be giving away a staggering 10 free game downloads with any shiny new system purchased.

A sign of desperation or generosity? I’d say desperation – no other company has to give away 10 games to get people to buy their hardware.

Anybody who buys a PSPgo after April 1st will be able to partake in the offer, which includes the likes of Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo and LittleBigPlanet. “We’ve worked with third parties and there’s some really good core products”, said SCE UK sales director Mark Howsen.

Although things look rosier for the PSP now then they did last year, especially with MGS: Peace Walker and God of War: Ghost of Sparta on the cards, retailers and the general public haven’t really taken to the UMD-free PSPgo.

The amount of effort being put into conversions to the system also appears to be on the wane, with the likes of Dante’s Inferno, Army of Two: The 40th Day and Modnation Racers all scoring significantly less than versions for other consoles.
