I find Littlebigplanet daunting. Admittedly I only have the PSP version, but I’m scared to death of attempting to build my own level. It just seems like an awful lot of work, and I’ll only make an utter mess of it.
So the concept of Littlebigplanet 2 – build your own entire game of pretty much any kind – is well beyond daunting. What’s scarier, though, is the power of a bloody slick trailer:
The sheer enthusiasm of that completely convinces me. I could end up buying a PlayStation 3 for it. Then never have the nerve to try to make anything myself, and be slightly disappointed by the whole affair.
I reckon that’s what would have happened if I’d bought a PS3 on the strength of Littlebigplanet.
But it probably wouldn’t have been as much of a waste as buying an Xbox 360 on the strength of Kameo, a game I played for probably a couple of hours. In that respect the Xbox 360 launch fiasco, and Amazon.co.uk taking months to fulfil my order, was probably for the best.
Super Monkey Ball, though. Now that was a launch title.
