Sony published From Software’s Demon’s Souls in Japan where it managed to rake in plenty of Yen. However, they didn’t see the point publishing such a niche title worldwide and passed the buck to Atlus for the US release.
Backed with a long list of glowing reviews and strong word of mouth, it has gone on to sell nearly a quarter of a million copies. At last week’s GDC event Sony’s localisation specialist admitted that not publishing it “was a mistake.”
It’s no big deal if it doesn’t turn up in Europe – the PlayStation 3’s region free nature means that you could always import a copy.
