More good Wii news: the BBC iPlayer is back, and on its own dedicated channel.
Actually, it was announced on the BBC’s Internet Blog last week, but I missed that. Never mind, this morning it’s available to download.
I’ve had a quick look around: browsing is quick and effective, and the search feature is speedy and efficient. I did manage to get an error page when exiting a programme I’d searched for, but nothing fatal.
As for quality, it’s certainly no worse than standard streaming in the main browser version of the iPlayer.
So: it’s all good.
I bought my parents the Wii back from the US. We live in the UK but can’t find the iplayer on the Wii shop this morning. Can you help/advise.

I expect you have to download it by doing an update in the system settings?
I had a message telling me about it, and it’s just a download from the Shop Channel.
It’ll only be available in the UK though. My guess would be that the machine’s nationality determines which country’s Shop Channel you get, hence you have the US Shop Channel – with five demos instead of our three, but no iPlayer.

Wii iplayer is in the shop in the UK if you have a USA machine you will need to go down the road of installing homebrew and fooling the machine software into thinking it is from the UK. But that should be approached with caution if you do not know anything about that kind of stuff as it takes some research.
I am very pleased with the iplayer we ran it last night no errors fast and quick to navigate well done Nintendo and Beeb :0)
I would recommend that you change the setting on your wii to point to the uk, this should fix the problem. Unless of course you are not in the UK, then you can’t access the iPlayer.
