Take your Sega for a mega drive

It’s only been a few years since the last Sega Mega Drive collection, but Sega are ready to release another round-up of their finest 16-bit hits later this month, this time on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Rumour has it that Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection will also include a few unlockable Master System and arcade games too – presumably the likes of Space Harrier, After Burner and OutRun which are missing from the standard line-up. I guess it would be too much to ask for Sega to include the long forgotten Sega Sonic the Hedgehog.

There are a lot of titles on here that have been on past collections, but this will be the first time that all the Shining Force, Phantasy Star and Streets of Rage games have been complied together on one disk. All six Sonic games also feature, in addition to a few surprises like Treasure’s Dynamite Headdy, Golden Axe III and RPG Beyond Oasis.

The cheapest place online to pre-order (that I’ve found so far, at least) is Sendit.com at £23.89. The Xbox 360 has some nice easy looking achievements, including ones for eating 200 fish in Ecco the Dolphin and for collecting a single pitiful chaos emerald in Sonic.
