New Lara, old formats

LaraJust before Christmas a few details were revealed about Tomb Raider Underworld – the first proper next-gen Tomb Raider. Moot points included fancy new motion capture animation, dynamic lighting systems, damageable environments, visual lighting and more detail than ever before – Lara’s clothes become dirtier and foot prints are left in her path. Eidos also announced the formats: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Since then though another three formats have been added – PlayStation 2, Wii and DS – which probably won’t include the new fangled technology mentioned above. As a result the release date has been pushed back from June to Christmas 2008. At least it’ll give the Official PlayStation 2 Magazine something to write about when the time comes.
