See Sonic run – run Sonic, run!

Despite being a bit clapped out, Need for Speed: Pro Street has managed to take the top of the chart, knocking former #1 Assassin’s Creed all the way down to #6. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has done better in its second week of release too, rising seven places to #7, while Super Mario Galaxy has dropped from #7 to #12.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles entering at #28 isn’t a positive start, although it will no doubt rise once the Wii Zapper is out. Sight Training is the only other new entry at #22, which means that Midway’s Area 51 Blacksite and Sega’s Golden Compass haven’t made it into the top 40 at all. Neither has the PSP-exclusive Aliens vs Predator Requiem, although it does go in at a lowly #19 in the PSP chart. Red Steel and GT Pro Series have unexpectedly re-entered at the arse end of top 40, which I suspect is down to money grabbing retailers bundling old stock with Wii consoles and jacking the price up a bit.

The DS chart is starting to look worrying – the Deal or No Deal game is currently at #7, outselling the likes of Mario Party DS, My Sims and even Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Who would have thought that a game involving nothing but opening boxes would do so well?
