Horses for courses

How’d this happen? Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron – one of the biggest PSP exclusives of recent times – arrives on store shelves with hardly any fanfare. It’ll be interesting to see how well it does in the top 40 chart as this week’s #1 PSP game – Final Fantasy Tactics – hasn’t even managed to get a peek in. In fact, we don’t recall any PSP-exclusives doing that great in the chart recently. If you own a PSP and wookie hunting isn’t your thing though then take a look at Dead Head Fred. It’s been getting some very good reviews, and it’s at a purse pleasing price too.

The DS is swarming literally with new releases this week – Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber, Real Football, Chronos Twin, not one but two Top Trump games and a load of animal husbandry guff. We’re particularly fond of the blurb for The Whitaker Family Presents Horse Life – “Get a living horse on your DS!” – surely it would smash the screen and get muddy hoof prints over it, no?

Project Gotham Racing 4 – which includes Geometry Wars Waves, we might add – is bound to please those fed up with Forza 2 already and we’re willing to bet that there are a few 360 owners out there that will pick up Crash of the Titans and Spider-Man: Friend or Foe just for the easy Gamerpoints. The demo of Friend or Foe was insultingly poor and so far the review scores reflect that. Crash of the Titans on the other hand appears to be yet another failed attempt at rejuvenating the once proud bandicoot. But at least it isn’t another sodding kart racer.

Next week? Half-Life 2: The Orange Box and the lovely Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.
