People have been speculating about it for long enough. Today, along with the UK public smoking ban, South Korea introduced VAT on money transactions in online games. Not a tax on virtual gold as such, but a tax on the payment of real money for virtual gold.
It’s not that big a deal, though it does seem to be a world first. The tax will only affect people buying virtual currency from large gold seller businesses. Frankly, anything that might kick Warcraft addicts up the arse is a good thing.
