Being sent something in the post for getting a high score isn’t unheard of – back in the 80s Activision used to send out sew-on patches to those that set new records on certain Atari 2600 titles. You could then get an adult to stitch them on to your BHS jacket and show them off at school.
Skip forward to 2007 and The Behemoth has had a similar idea, awarding players of the lovely Alien Hominid HD a “simulated gold†trophy if they manage to get on the leader board. They aren’t mass produced efforts either – each will feature their Gamertag, high score and date etched into the trophy’s base. That’s a nice touch.
