A few years back there were rumours of Halo appearing on Game Boy Advance. Certain websites laughed at the idea, but not us: an isometric shooter set in the Halo universe would have worked just fine on the handheld. Plus, when the rumours emerged, Mircosoft were readying a Game Boy Advance version of Xbox launch title Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee.
It turned out that the rumours were just that. Recently, however, a someone at IGN claimed that he was once shown Halo running on the DS. An unnamed publisher apparently contacted Microsoft and was given permission to convert it, but the project was eventually cancelled.
“Think Metroid Prime Hunters but with a Halo facelift. I had the opportunity to run through the beginning beach area and noted while playing that it looked like Xbox Halo except on DS, it was running fast, and the control was responsive. The trademark Halo music even played out of the tiny speakers of Nintendo’s handheld,†claims Matt from IGN in his blog.
Don’t blame Microsoft: they don’t dislike the DS. They’re letting Rare convert Diddy Kong Racing to it, after all.
